FROM OUR PADDOCK
TO YOURS
NBGen was founded by Nick Boshammer with a simple aim: to breed cattle that work hard in commercial conditions and add value right through the supply chain.

We run NBGen from our property near Chinchilla in Queensland’s Western Downs, where we raise our three kids and manage our Angus herd. Like most producers, we’re juggling family, cattle and seasons, and we understand the importance of breeding cattle that are reliable, functional and commercially relevant.
Cattle have always been part of our lives. Nick's father, Roger Boshammer, registered the Glenoch Angus prefix back in 1974 and has played a big part in shaping the seedstock industry, marking 50 years of membership with Angus Australia in 2024. Nick was also strongly influenced by his great uncle, Jack, who founded the Sandon Angus stud. Jack helped him buy his first cows at the Ripple Vale dispersal sale in 2012, an opportunity Nick will forever appreciate. Being involved in the Sandon Glenoch Angus bull sale over many years has been a huge opportunity for us, and we’re grateful for what we’ve learned along the way.
Nick’s interest in better beef led him to study Agribusiness at Marcus Oldham College, before heading to Kansas State University in the US. While there, he spent time learning about animal production, nutrition, feeding systems and meat science, and visited leading operations like Gardiner Angus Ranch and commercial feedlots using their genetics. Seeing those cattle perform in real-world systems reinforced a belief we still hold today - good genetics should make life easier and more profitable for commercial producers.
Kate grew up on her family’s beef property near Warialda in northern New South Wales and is a fourth-generation cattle producer. After studying Business Management and working for more than a decade in PR and Marketing roles across Brisbane, Sydney and Tamworth, she returned to the land to build NBGen alongside Nick.
From fairly humble beginnings, we've grown our cattle numbers over time by leasing, agisting and gradually purchasing land. In 2023, we bought our home block 15km east of Chinchilla, and today our herd runs across around 6,000 acres in the Chinchilla district.

Together, we focus on breeding cattle that are fertile, structurally sound, easy-doing and predictable. We believe good cattle should calve easily, grow efficiently and fit into a wide range of Queensland production systems. Our breeding decisions are guided by performance data, but always backed up by what we see in the paddock.

We’re grateful for the support of the producers who back us, and we take that responsibility seriously. If you ever want to walk through the cattle, talk breeding goals or compare notes, you’re always welcome.
